Today we left La Pine and moved to Sisters. Since we had the Casita with us we went back
by Newberry National Volcanic Monument – Lava River Cave. Yesterday the vehicle parking was full but
not the trailer parking. We got a spot
with the Casita. Usually if the vehicle
parking is full, inconsiderate people will then park in the trailer area even
though it has signs that state “RV Only”.
This parking lot had red cones and when a trailer came in, the park
ranger would move it. This prevented
anybody from parking illegally. We
spent almost two hours walking through the lava cave. It was one mile long and we walked all the way to the end. Then we drove to our site and got set up. Jim wanted to visit the National Forest
Ranger Station in Sisters for some campground and trail information. We had a beer at Three Creeks Brewing.
