7/17/18 - Rock Springs, WY
We left this morning and went to the dump before
getting on the road. The man in front
of us took 30 minutes to dump and then he couldn’t get his sewer hose back in
the holder. I wanted to get out of the truck and tell him this was ridiculous
and that he needed to hurry up and move on.
Jim wouldn’t let me. I got out
and took pictures of the flowers. It
took us 5 minutes to dump. We headed to
Rock Springs, WY today. On this route (the Lincoln Highway) between Cheyenne
and Laramie, we stopped at the rest area that is the highest point on the 3,500
mile route from N.Y. to San Francisco.
It was 8640’. There is a really
large monument to Abraham Lincoln. We
made it to Rock Springs and found that the fairgrounds where we wanted to stay
was full. They have around 1,100
sites. The National High School Rodeo
was in full force. We went to Bitter
Creek Brewing to use their Wi-Fi since our phones don’t have connection
here. We spent the night in the Walmart
parking lot. It was full of RVs and
semi trailers. I bought a bagged salad
mix in Walmart and added a few things from the farmer’s market to it. That was a nice supper. Later I went back into Walmart and got us a
pint of strawberry ice cream.
