7/26/18 - Portland, OR

Today is the first day of the Oregon Brewers Festival.  We drove into downtown Portland and finally found a parking space.  We got stopped by the Brewers Festival kickoff parade but it didn’t last long.  We have a friend in Portland who used to live in Houston.  Emil met us at the festival at noon and we stayed until 5 pm.  The entrance fee was $20 -- this got you a plastic glass and 13 tokens.  Each token was good for a 3 oz. pour of beer.  I used 12 tokens and saved one as a souvenir. Jim used all 13 of his tokens.  It was 99 degrees today but the festival had a really nice mister system that I walked through a number of times to cool off.  After leaving we made a stop at Hair of the Dog and I had a “Fred” beer, and Jim had an IPA.  We also had supper there.
