It was 42 degrees this morning. After breakfast
we found the water leak. It is coming
from a small pin hole near a hose clamp connection to the water pump. I also found the source of the sizzling
noise coming from the running lamp. The
fine spray from the hose was hitting the wires going through the trailer hull
to the running lamp. With the water
turned off, the noise stopped. Without
running water in the Casita we seriously thought about coming home. But, if we were camping in a tent we would
have to have water in containers. That
is what we will do until we can find a place to have it fixed. At least we have a fridge, cooktop, TV and a
bed.
We took showers and had to use the only two things I had in the Casita
that weren’t wet. We had to dry off with kitchen hand towels. Pretty small, but they worked just fine. After breakfast we
went to a viewpoint to see the Deschutes River. Then we went into town to wash the towels. The smoke is really bad today. My eyes itch and its really hard to
breathe. It isn't healthy to hike in this smoke so we went back to Bend to visit some
breweries. We went to Worthy Brewing
and Silver Moon Brewing. There is a Bend
Ale Trail here and if you visit 10 of the 16 breweries and get a stamp on a
pamphlet, you get a reward at the visitors center. We had 10 after visiting Silver Moon and the visitor center was a
couple of blocks away. We walked there
and got a couple of really nice silicone pint glasses.
After that, we drove up to the lookout point at Pilot Butte State
Park. The pictures from here show you
how bad the smoke is today. On a clear day you can see the surrounding mountains. On the way
back to camp we stopped at Riverbend Brewing.
(The visitors center gave us back the pamphlet to continue to get
stamped. After all 16 breweries are
visited, you can get another reward.)
