8/11/18 - Corvallis, OR
This morning Corvallis has a farmers market at
the park by the river in downtown. We
went and bought some veggies and a burrito for breakfast. This market is bigger than the one we went
to in Longmont, Colorado. Jim wanted to
take a hike up Bald Hill but when we got parked at the trailhead it started to
rain a little. There were lots of
blackberries at the trailhead and we picked some. Instead of hiking today we went on a drving tour of five covered bridges
east of Albany. While we were parked at
the 2nd covered bridge, we
notice lots more blackberries. We picked
some more -- this make us have three quarts of fresh berries to eat. I always put zip lock bags in the truck for
emergencies if it rains to put our cell phones and cameras in to keep them dry
when hiking. We used these to put the blackberries in. Then we went into Albany to Calapooria
Brewing and Deluxe Brewing. After
returning to camp we sat outside awhile.
Then we went to an ice cream social at camp. We put some of our fresh blackberries on top of the ice cream.
