This morning we had breakfast at a coffee shop
in Rhododendron. We had an omelet and
biscuit with gravy. Then we left to
drive to Hood River. On the way we
stopped at part of the Oregon Trail where the pioneers had to lower their
wagons down a steep section of the mountain by attaching ropes to them. They also would
cut down trees and tie them to the back of their wagons for weight to slow the
speed going down the hill. Then we
stopped at a pioneer woman’s grave. Her
grave was found by a road crew building a modern road along the pioneer
trail. We stopped in Parkdale and had a
beer at Solera Brewing. Then at Hood
River we went to Full Sail, Double Mountain, pFriem, and Big Horse breweries. When we parked by pFiem, there were a lot of
blackberry vines near the truck and we picked some. We ate a few and then put more in a baggie to take home to have on our cereal.
