10/2/18 - Carson City, NV

Today we drove to Virginia City.  On the way through Carson City we stopped at Orion Clemens house.  He lived here when he was the first Nevada Secretary of State.  His brother Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain) often visited him here. We have been to Virginia City before but we walked down the main street and went into some of the historic buildings.  Virginia City was a boom town when the Comstock Lode was discovered in 1849.  After looking at all of the old buildings, we went to Reno and had a beer at Under the Rose Brewing.  There were a few more breweries we could have visited but we went back to camp and sat outside to watch the sun set.
